Project Overview

The WNDR travel application was born out of a vision to redefine how travelers explore, plan, and experience their adventures. Designed for a start-up in New York, this project aimed to evolve an existing website into an engaging mobile application. My role was to create a design that catered to the modern traveler’s need for simplicity, transparency, and inspiration. Through careful research, ideation, and execution, the project combined innovation with user-centered design principles to create a seamless travel planning experience.

Problem Statement

Planning a trip can often feel overwhelming due to a multitude of choices and conflicting reviews. WNDR aims to tackle three major challenges faced by travelers: the lack of time for research, the difficulty in discovering authentic local experiences, and the excessive amount of information found in existing travel apps.

The Design Process

The design process began with user research to understand travelers’ habits, preferences, and frustrations. The goal was to create a clean, intuitive interface that emphasized video content as a primary tool for discovering activities, dining, and lodging options. The design called for fluid navigation and personalized suggestions to keep users engaged and inspired. Adding features like preference filters, quick comparisons, and video reviews ensured travelers could find exactly what they were looking for with minimal effort.

Outcome

Interviews and surveys with potential users revealed a strong desire for visual authenticity and transparency. Travelers wanted to see real experiences before committing to a booking. They also valued tools that allowed them to personalize their trips based on unique preferences. These insights guided the app’s core features.

Conclusion

Working on WNDR was a rewarding journey that deepened my appreciation for the intersection of creativity and functionality in design. It challenged me to think beyond conventional solutions and focus on what truly matters to users. By combining visual storytelling with seamless usability, I learned how to create designs that are both innovative and practical.
